Associate Professor Dimitrios Bechtsis

Dr Dimitrios Bechtsis is an Associate Professor (Applied Industrial Informatics in Supply Chain Management) in the Division of Industrial Information Systems and Management, Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, School of Engineering, International Hellenic University (IHU). He holds a PostDoc ( Digital Supply Chains and Industrial Informatics) and Ph.D. (Digital manufacturing methodologies and information technology (ΙΤ) tools for the management and control of autonomous vehicles in Supply Chains) from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, A.U.Th., an M.Sc. degree in Medical Informatics from the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Informatics and the School of Medicine, A.U.Th. and a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, A.U.Th.. He teaches Information, Database Management and Autonomous Systems, and Industrial Informatics. He also teaches in MSc Programs and supervises 4 PhD students in the fields of XR and IoT technologies, Big Data analytics and Autonomous Systems. He was previously employed as an Assistant Researcher in the Information Technologies Institute (ITI) of CERTH, and as a Project Manager and Developer in the IT Center of A.U.Th..
Dr Bechtsis’s scientific interests indicatively cover the fields of Information Technology, Database Management Systems, the Internet of Things, XR Systems, Industry 4.0, Autonomous Vehicles, and Digital-Sustainable-Resilient Supply Chains (with a special focus on agrifood supply chains). He has published his research work in acknowledged peer-reviewed scientific journals, as chapters in scientific books and in many national and international conference proceedings. He also serves as a reviewer in prestigious scientific journals and is a member of several associations, such as the Technical Chamber of Greece and the Association of Mechanical-Electrical Engineers of Northern Greece. Dr Bechtsis is a member of the Board of Directors of the Greek Association of Supply Chain Management (EELBE).
Dr Bechtsis has participated in more than 35 national and European research projects as a team member and PI.
