Dr. Konstantinos Tsongas is an Associate Professor in the Industrial Engineering and Management Department of the International Hellenic University (I.H.U.), Greece. He holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering, a Master’s degree in Advanced Materials and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, with a research focus on advanced materials and the dynamic and mechanical behaviour of mechanical systems.
From 2013 to 2022, he worked as a Scientific Associate, while since 2022 he has served as a faculty member and Principal Investigator of research projects. He has participated in a total of 24 research projects funded through European and national programmes, as well as through private funding provided by companies of the Greek industrial sector. His research interests include the Additive Manufacturing and 3D printing of advanced materials, recycled polymer composites and cellular or architected structures; mechanical testing and material characterization using SEM and in-situ SEM techniques; Digital Twins, Finite Element Analysis; vibration analysis; and the application of optimization methods and genetic algorithms.
He is the co-author of 134 scientific publications (h index:30, citations:2600), including 85 articles in peer-reviewed Journals, 4 Book chapters in international editions, 39 papers presented at international Conferences and 4 papers in national Journals and Conferences/Workshops. In addition, he is the co-author of two academic textbooks entitled Statics – Mechanics of Rigid Bodies and Dynamics of Rigid Bodies, which are distributed to higher education institutions in Greece through the Eudoxus academic textbook service. He has served as a Guest Editor of Special Issues and regularly acts as a reviewer for international scientific journals.
